Noble palaces and culinary traditions. Vicenza is the city where the famous XVI century architect Andrea Palladio grew professionally: the streets of Vicenza and the surrounding countryside are spotted with its prestigious Venetian Villas and palaces. We’ll visit some of them and then move to Bassano del Grappa, surrounded by mountains and medieval villages. We won’t leave the culinary side of the trip behind: the lush hills of Vicenza hide great spots where to enjoy captivating truffle hunts and in the area around Bassano we’ll get to taste the local grappa and cheese.

Program
DAY 1 – Arrival in Vicenza
Private minivan transfer to a hotel in Vicenza city centre or agriturismo on the Berici Hills.
DAY 2 – Villas and Vicenza
The tour starts with an introduction of the great works of the Italian architect architect Andrea Palladio, one of the most influential architects in history. We visit one of the Villas he designed and we learn of his innovations linked with the Classic-era influences during an interesting guided tour. We have lunch in a typical osteria and in the afternoon we visit the city of Vicenza, whose centre is embellished by great buildings designed by Palladio.
DAY 3 – Truffle and Bassano del Grappa
Berici Hills, the hills that overlook Vicenza, are spotted with beautiful Venetian Villas but are also a great place where to find one of the gastronomical treasures of the region: black truffe! We learn everything about this valuable subterranean fungus during an exciting truffle hunt, followed by a cooking class. In the afternoon, private minivan transfer to Bassano del Grappa and grappa tasting, the best way to end the day!
DAY 4 – Asolo, Prosecco and Villas
We explore the area around Bassano del Grappa, situated at the bottom of high mountains. We visit the Palladian Villa of Maser with a final wine tasting, than enjoy a lunch at an Agriturismo in the Prosecco hills, before heading to the village of Asolo. If we want we can enjoy a short walk to the Rocca or just enjoy a coffee at the castle in front of a great panorama.
DAY 5 – Departure
