Gondola in Venice
Typical boat of the Venice lagoon, a masterpiece of shipwrights, it has become the symbol of the Serenissima Republic and still retains a particular charm linked to the tradition of gondoliers and their technique of rowing with a single oar, moving as in a magical dance.
Until the nineteenth Century it was the means of transport par excellence: in fact, its slender shape allows you to sail the waters easily, through canals, under bridges and in front of historic buildings. The nobles went out on gondolas gathering as in a social event, often accompanied by popular songs: the songs from batèlo, or serenades.
